VICTORY!

Today, I did something that I have never done before in my whole entire life. I made cookies (twelve dozen, to be exact) for a work event, and I did not do any of the following:

* lick the spoon
* lick the spatula
* lick the beaters
* lick my fingers
* eat batter

Not once! At all! I then sat down and ate two of the more awesome looking ones as my reward. It was super hard, but I am very proud of myself. Usually when I bake cookies, I probably eat the equivalent of at least half a dozen in batter (if not more, given how big the batch of this kind is) while I am making them.

Hurrah!

Yay! community is still here. Hope everyone is well and that I haven't been flooding your F-page too much.

Just recently read You: on a Diet and really liked the explainations as to why and how the human body uses, makes, stores, and looses fat.

I'm gearing up to make some significant life-style changes but for now here's to walking 30 minutes a day and trying to make my main drink just good hold H2O.

Today, ensure you do the following:

Start your day by taking stock and prioritize your day. What really NEEDS to get done by the end of the day? Take care of the NEEDS, and then whatever you get done in addition to that is all bonus work.

Eat a healthy lunch If you're going out for lunch, get the healthiest thing on the menu. Ensure your lunch includes at least protein and a fruit or vegetable. Unless you're on a carb-free diet, it should also include at least one serving of grains/breads.

How has everyone been doing on the daily challenges?

Sorry that this challenge is a little late in coming. I'll keep it a simple one.

Overall health includes mental well-being as well, so here's the two part challenge:

#1. Make it a point to disconnect for at least 30 minutes today and do something that you genuinely enjoy away from all of that. This means no TV, no computer, no phone. What you do outside of that is up to you. It could be anything from exercise, to reading, to writing letters to people you've been meaning to write to. It could mean taking a nap. Maybe cleaning (if you enjoy that). Whatever it is, look at this as your alone time to recharge.

#2. Get 8 hours of sleep tonight. This will help prepare you for a week of work (or school) and start you off on the right foot for Monday!

Good luck!

Report back here and let us know how you did!

Fitness Challenge
Part of being fit and living a healthy lifestyle is keeping your stress levels down.
If you're somewhere that the weather permits it, get outdoors and go for a walk.
Living in typical winter temperatures? If it's too cold to have a comfortable walk and enjoy your surroundings, try meditating for 10 minutes.

Speaking with freckles42 yesterday, she suggested I post this link to the community as well. Sparkpeople.com is a great resource for menus, exercise, nutrition, and community.

I've started a community over there that you are all welcome to join: Fit But You Know It.

I'm going to cross-post challenges from there over here for anyone who doesn't want to use the other resources that Spark has available.
